With over 50 years of professional experience, Prof. V K Damodaran has taught at College of Engineering, Guindy (now Anna University) and at NIT Calicut (1970 – 1980); held positions as Director of EMC (Energy Management Centre) and Ex-officio Secretary to Govt., later as Honorary Vice Chairman of EMC; Director of Science & Technology and Environment, Govt. of Kerala; Controller of Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology; Regional Electrical Inspector to Govt. of Kerala, and Head of Technical Sciences and Asst. Director of State Institute of Languages, Kerala. He held position as the Managing Director of UN sponsored International Network on Small Hydropower (and the UNIDO International Centre on SHP) in Hangzhou, China (2001-’05). He was responsible for organizing the first two ‘Global Forums on Hydropower for Today’. Prof. V. K. Damodaran is currently the Director General of the International Non Governmental Cooperation Organization for Renewable Energy (INGCORE). He was the Resident Managing Director (Technical) of the International Network on Small Hydro Power (IN-SHP) based in Hangzhou, China, from August 2001 to June 2005. He is active in promoting Energy Conservation and Management, Renewable Energy technologies, and Environment protection within India and abroad. He is also the Chairman of Centre for Environment and Development, Trivandrum. An international consultant to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, he strives to help the third world countries to use Renewable Energy for the needs of the rural poor. Prof. V K was also Past Chair, IEEE Kerala section.
